As childhoods become more tech-based, we want to provide outdoor experiences to help students reconnect back with nature by creating opportunities to explore and interact with the natural environment. Research shows that spending time outdoors has a myriad of benefits. If this sounds like something your school would be interested in, sign up for our pilot Nature School, Wiggling Worms & Soil. This experience is designed for students in grades PK-2nd grade and is available to the first two schools that register.
How it works:
- A certified teacher will visit your school district in April or May to model what outdoor education can look like– engaging with nature and using it as a catalyst for learning and development of the senses
- The session will include a read aloud, an exploration of worms and soil & an activity
- Groups of up to 25 kids, can be a mix of ages or one classroom, this is a local school district decision
- One school staff member must accompany the group
- If a student has paraprofessional minutes on an IEP, s/he must be present
- Four, 1.5 hour sessions throughout a single school day (4 sessions x 25 students =100 kids total)
- e.g. 8:30-1oam, 10:15-11:45am, 12-1:30pm, 1:45-3:15pm
- Once you are signed up, an email will be sent to get a date scheduled. In the event of inclement weather, the exploration will take place in the classroom setting
- School staff are responsible for communicating with families about the event
- $1000
